Bureau of Standards Jamaica
Technical Committees (TCs) are responsible for the development of standards. TCs are ideally composed of industry experts and representatives from government, academia, consumer groups and any other stakeholders who have an interest in the subject focus of the standard. The BSJ enables consensus to be reached among stakeholders on standards that meet both the requirements of industry and the broader needs of society, such as, health, safety and security. TCs are led by an Executive Team chosen from its members comprising a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson and Technical Secretary.
Industry experts and stakeholders drive all aspects of the standards development process, from deciding the new standard or revision of an outdated standard, to defining the technical content of the standards. Almost every day, a Technical Committee is meeting and possibly making decisions that could affect your bottom line or your health and safety.
The BSJ facilitates the work of Technical Committees at various levels National, Regional and International.
