The BSJ will host the Pan American Standards Commission (COPANT) General Assembly 2018 in Jamaica on 15-20 April 2018. The Assembly will be hosted at the Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa: Montego Bay Resort.
COPANT, is a multinational organization and is the reference body for promoting the development of technical standardization and conformity assessment activities for the countries of the Americas and the Caribbean- through its members, comprised of the national standards bodies of 34 countries.
The theme for the General Assembly is ‘One Voice - Regionally Standardized, Globally Harmonized’. The week of activities will bring together COPANT members and other stakeholders to, among other things, identify through a regional approach how best to use standards to successfully compete globally.
Among the list of activities, slated for the event, will be a national workshop that will explore the theme "The future of health care: Natural products - Medicinal ganja in support of good health". The day will delineate the role of standards work in the development of the health industry with quality services, alternative products, new technologies and equipment and the emergence of information systems. The objective is to learn about good practices from around the world to strengthen our national and regional health systems.
