In an effort to stem and improve the proliferation of non-compliant blocks on the market, a strategic partnership, comprising the Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ), National Compliance and Regulatory Authority (NCRA), Carib Cement, HEART Trust/NTA and Block Makers Association, was established to help to address the problems that exist.
Following a series of training-the-trainer workshops, held a few weeks ago, these awareness sessions exposed participants to the problems faced by the industry and the strategies developed by the partners to address the challenges.
Further training interventions will be conducted to improve competencies which will positively affect the quality of blocks that are made for the market.
Participants: Hon. Karl Samuda, CD, MP – Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries – Guest Speaker
Ms Yvonne Hall - Executive Director, Bureau of Standards Jamaica
