Introduction:
At the request of the Ministry of Housing, Urban Renewal, Environment and Climate Change (MHURECC) The BSJ was called to reconvene the Paints and Surface coatings Technical Committee to establish a lead in Paint Specification for Jamaica.
Scope of work:
The scope of the Paint and Surface Coatings Technical Committee entails:
a) Review and revise the existing Jamaican standards for
b) Developing/adopting/adapting relevant CARICOM Regional standards
c) Development of relevant Jamaican standards
d) Serve as a technical advice team for related standardization activities and other related matters, (e.g. from regional or international sources) specific to the sector, that may arise during the tenure of the committee.

Name: Johann Antoine, Chairperson
Mr Johann Antoine is a Research Scientists at the International Centre for Environmental and Nuclear Sciences (ICENS-UWI) located in the University of the West Indies, Jamaica.
When he is not being a workaholic he is an avid runner and a rabid football fan. He is a sports fan in general but particularly football. He is also a lover of music which spans across several genres.

Mrs Sherika Whitelocke-Ballingsingh, B.S.c, PgCt. Med. Tox., MPH (I)
, is the Poison Information Coordinator for the Caribbean Poison Information Network, located in the University of Technology,
CARPIN (UTECH), Jamaica. She is a Public Health Inspector by Training with over 15 years tackling public health issues. Her education and specialist background are Public Health at the International Level, Medical Toxicology, Education and Training. She works both in the public sector and academic institutions. Her research area and professional background primarily focuses on poison through chemicals, with recent research work to include determinants to unintentional poisoning via household chemical, lead in paint study in Jamaica, and Pesticide Poisoning within Farming Communities. She has a passion for public health and protecting the vulnerable population from poisoning. She continues to initiate discussions with relevant stakeholders for policies to protect against poisoning both in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean.
She enjoys farming, reading and cooking for relaxation.

Mr. Joseph Desporte is the Chief Chemist at EDGECHEM (Jamaica) Limited.

Ms Lawrence is the Director, Occupational Health, Safety & Environment Human Resource Management & Development Division at the Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA).
Name: Dwyte Bremmer
Mr Bremmer represents the Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ). Dwyte is the recipient of a Master of Philosophy degree in Food Chemistry from the University of The West Indies, Mona. He also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Chemistry from the University of The West Indies.
Dwyte has been the recipient of extensive specialized training in subject areas such as Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP); ISO 17025, 9001 and 14000 standards, and patent examination.
Dwyte has had what he deems to be a noble opportunity serving the Bureau of Standards Jamaica for 10 years in different capacities which includes analyst, senior analyst and currently Manager for the Chemistry Branch.
Dwyte is passionate about standards and Chemistry. He has represented the BSJ in various forums, gaining experience which has served to mold him on the value of standards and their impact on Jamaica and international trade.
